Purpose and compatibility

This six-foot DisplayPort 1.2a to HDMI cable connects a DisplayPort-equipped computer, tablet or phone to an HDMI-ready display such as an HDTV. It carries both audio and video signals and complies with the DisplayPort 1.2a specification while remaining backwards compatible with DisplayPort 1.1 and 1.1a devices.

Suitability and limits

The cable suits users who need a single 6 ft link for 1080p or 1920 x 1200 video with uncompressed 7.1, 5.1 or 2-channel audio pass-through. Buyers who require longer runs, higher refresh rates at 4K, or support for newer DisplayPort revisions should look at alternative cables.

Build integration

The black cable uses two connectors and needs no external power, drawing what it requires from the source device. It frees up an HDMI port on the display for other sources and adds a DisplayPort output option for systems that only provide that interface.

Questions about this item

Do I need a DisplayPort source on my computer for this 1.2a cable to work?

Yes, your computer or tablet must provide a DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort output; the cable carries the signal to an HDMI display.

Will the cable work if my graphics card only supports DisplayPort 1.1?

The cable is backwards compatible with DisplayPort 1.1 and 1.1a, so it will function at the lower 1.1 speed.

How can I confirm the link is running at full 1.2a capability after connecting?

Check that your display shows a resolution up to 1920 x 1200 or 1080p and that audio plays in 7.1, 5.1 or 2-channel uncompressed format.
