Plenum-Rated 12AWG Speaker Wire

This CMP-rated 12AWG speaker wire uses oxygen-free bare copper conductors inside a fire-retardant jacket approved for plenum air spaces. The 100 ft length suits whole-home or commercial audio installations where building codes require plenum-rated cable. The two-conductor design connects a single speaker per run.

Installers Needing In-Wall Fire Compliance

The plenum rating meets fire safety and insurance requirements for routing cable through ducts and air-handling spaces in residential and commercial buildings. Builders who only need standard riser-rated cable for non-plenum runs should consider other options.

CMP Plenum Rating for Air-Space Installation

The CMP-rated jacket is the specification that determines whether this wire satisfies code for in-plenum routing. Without this rating the cable cannot be used in building air-handling spaces.

Questions about this item

How does the 12 AWG gauge affect power loss on a 100-foot run?

The 12 AWG oxygen-free copper conductors keep resistance low, minimising voltage drop and preserving amplifier power over the full 99.97 ft length.

Does the CMP-rated jacket add noticeable stiffness when pulling the wire all day?

Monoprice specifies a softer, more flexible plenum jacket than traditional CMP cables, reducing installer fatigue during long pulls.

What connectors or tools are needed to terminate the two bare conductors?

The wire ships with bare copper ends; you supply banana plugs, spade lugs or bare-wire binding posts plus a stripper and crimper.
