Plenum-Rated 12 AWG Speaker Wire

Monoprice model 113710 is a CMP-rated two-conductor speaker wire built for in-wall and plenum-space installations in homes and commercial buildings. The 100 % oxygen-free bare copper conductors carry audio signals with low loss across the full 499.87 ft spool. A treated black jacket meets fire-safety requirements for air-handling spaces.

Installers needing code-compliant cable

This spool suits electricians and AV integrators who must run speaker cable through plenum ducts or behind walls where CMP rating is mandatory. Buyers who only need a short patch cable for desktop speakers or who require four-conductor wire for bi-amp or dual-speaker pulls should select a different product.

12 AWG gauge on a 500 ft spool

The 12 AWG conductor size is the key spec that determines voltage drop and power handling over the 499.87 ft length; verify it matches your amplifier power and run distance before purchasing.

Questions about this item

What does the CMP plenum rating on this 12AWG speaker wire allow?

The CMP rating means the jacket meets fire-safety standards for installation inside plenum air spaces and walls in commercial or residential buildings.

What conduit or raceway size is needed for a 500 ft pull of this 2-conductor 12AWG cable?

The cable uses a softer, more flexible plenum jacket than traditional CMP cables, but you must still size conduit per local code for the 12AWG pair diameter.

How do you identify the polarity when terminating the oxygen-free copper conductors?

Each conductor has a colour-coded inner jacket inside the main black CMP sheath so you can match positive and negative at both ends.
