12AWG oxygen-free copper speaker wire

This 12AWG speaker wire uses two conductors of greater than 99.95 percent pure oxygen-free bare copper. The CL2-rated PVC jacket meets fire safety requirements for in-wall installation in residential buildings. It is sold as a 250ft reel in black.

CL2 in-wall rating

The CL2 rating confirms the cable complies with fire safety and insurance standards for running inside residential walls. This single specification decides whether the wire is approved for your installation. Without it, the cable cannot be used for in-wall runs.

Two-conductor polarity and amplifier load

Each conductor has color-coded PVC for quick polarity identification during termination. Pure bare copper keeps total cable resistance low so the amplifier sees a load close to the speaker impedance curve. The wire suits stereo or mono runs but does not carry a third conductor for centre-channel or ground.

Questions about this item

What does the 12 AWG thickness mean for my amplifier and speaker setup?

The 12 AWG pure bare copper conductors keep total wire resistance low so the amplifier sees a load close to the speaker's impedance curve, avoiding the added resistance that copper-clad aluminium wire introduces.

What does the CL2 rating allow me to do with this cable?

CL2 rating means the cable meets fire safety and insurance requirements for in-wall installation in residential buildings.

How much space does the 250 ft reel need for storage or mounting?

The reel holds 76.2 metres of dual-conductor cable in a black PVC jacket.
