Monoprice 147199 USB4 Gen 2 cable

This Monoprice USB4 Gen 2 cable supports up to 20 Gbps data transfer for ultra-fast file syncing and backups. A premium silicone jacket provides exceptional flexibility and tangle resistance. It enables 8K60 Hz video with DSC and 8K30 Hz without compression. USB Power Delivery 3.1 delivers up to 240 W for demanding devices.

Suits high-speed docking and 8K displays

Users who need 20 Gbps bandwidth for external storage, docking stations or 8K monitors will benefit. The 6 ft length fits typical desk and mobile setups. Buyers requiring 40 Gbps throughput for the fastest external drives should look elsewhere. Those needing longer runs for fixed installations should also consider other options.

20 Gbps USB4 Gen 2 bandwidth

The single specification that decides fit is the 20 Gbps USB4 Gen 2 data rate. It determines whether your host, dock or drive can reach its rated speed through this link. Verify that your devices operate at or below this bandwidth before purchasing. The 240 W PD 3.1 rating handles power for most high-consumption laptops.

Questions about this item

Will the 20 Gbps data rate work with my older USB 3.0 ports?

The cable negotiates the highest common speed; with USB 3.0 ports it will operate at 5 Gbps while still delivering up to 240 W PD 3.1 power.

How can I confirm the cable is delivering 8K60 Hz with DSC after I connect my monitor?

Check the display settings on your computer — it should list 8K at 60 Hz with DSC enabled when the link is running at full 20 Gbps.

Does the 147199 include a power adapter or only the silicone cable?

Only the 6 ft USB‑C to USB‑C silicone cable is in the box; a PD 3.1 charger must be purchased separately for 240 W charging.
