Solid Ash Electric Guitar for Players

The Monoprice Inc. 610018 Cali DLX Plus is a solid ash electric guitar built for musicians who want professional tone without the premium price tag. Its lightweight 11.59 lb body delivers bright, balanced resonance with a slightly scooped midrange. Three Wilkinson single-coil pickups provide versatile sounds suited to many genres. A gig bag is included for transport and storage.

Practical Limits of Single-Coil Design

Three single-coil pickups produce clear, articulate tones but are inherently susceptible to electromagnetic hum in noisy environments. The Wilkinson bridge offers stable tuning and intonation within the mechanical limits of a traditional tremolo system. Players seeking high-gain silence or extended dive-bomb range will encounter the physical constraints of this classic pickup and bridge architecture.

Upgrade from Entry-Level Instruments

This guitar replaces beginner models that use laminated bodies, basic hardware and factory setups requiring further adjustment. The solid ash construction and California luthier setup deliver immediate playability and tonal depth that budget guitars cannot match. The jump is worth it when a player needs reliable performance, resonant sustain and component quality that supports serious practice or stage work.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the Light Blue model with maple fretboard or a different finish for the Cali DLX Plus?

The Light Blue version ships with a maple fretboard as standard; other colours in the Indio line may pair with rosewood instead, so pick the combination that matches your preferred feel and look.

How does the solid ash body and professional California setup affect real-world playability?

The ash body gives a bright, balanced tone with scooped mids, while the Master Luthier setup in California ensures low action, accurate intonation and fretwork that feels finished straight from the box.

What does the Wilkinson bridge and three single-coil layout cap in practice?

The Wilkinson tremolo offers smooth pitch modulation with stable return, and the three single-coils deliver classic chime, quack in positions 2 and 4, and enough output for clean to medium-gain styles.
