Four-port USB 2.0 hub for legacy and modern PCs
The Monoprice 6631 adds four USB 2.0 ports through a single host connection. It is aimed at users who need extra ports for keyboards, mice, printers or flash drives on systems ranging from Windows 95 to Windows 7 and Mac OS 9 to 10.1. The hub is self-powered and includes a 4' cable that tucks away when not in use. Overcurrent protection helps guard connected devices.
480 Mbps shared bandwidth across four ports
Each port supports the USB 2.0 maximum of 480 Mbps, but the total throughput is shared among all active devices. Everyday peripherals such as input devices and mass-storage drives run comfortably within this limit. The bandwidth becomes a bottleneck when multiple high-throughput drives transfer large files simultaneously. The hub is backward compatible with USB 1.1 equipment at the lower 1.1 speed.
Passive cooling with no fan noise
The plastic housing relies on natural convection and operates between 20 and 50 °C in 20–80 % RH non-condensing environments. With no moving parts the hub adds no audible noise to a workstation. Power draw is limited to the 5 VDC bus supply, so the unit imposes minimal load on the host port.

Questions about this item
Will the 4-port USB 2.0 hub work with my older USB 1.1 keyboard and mouse?
Yes, the hub is backward compatible with USB 1.1 specifications, so USB 1.1 peripherals will function normally on its four USB 2.0 ports.
How can I confirm the hub is receiving bus power after I plug it in?
A red LED on the top of the hub lights up to indicate that bus power is active.
Does the box include the 4-foot host cable or do I need to buy one separately?
The 4-foot USB cable is built into the hub and tucks away when not in use, so no separate cable purchase is required.
