106mm planar magnetic headphones

The Monolith M1070C uses newly designed 106mm planar drivers with a dual linear symmetry magnet array inside a closed-back enclosure. Weighing 4.37 ounces, it is built for listeners who want detailed soundstage and isolation without an open design. The 3.5mm connector provides a direct analogue link to a source device.

Closed-back isolation and comfort

The sealed cups keep external noise out and prevent sound from leaking into quiet rooms, making the headphones suitable for shared spaces or late-night sessions. Large faux-leather earpads and a padded headband distribute the 4.37-ounce weight for extended wear. Supplied pads are removable so owners can swap them for alternatives without tools.

Upgrade from dynamic closed-backs

Moving from conventional dynamic closed-back headphones to this planar magnetic model brings a wider soundstage, airier highs and tighter bass while retaining isolation. The jump is worthwhile for listeners who have hit the resolution ceiling of their current pair and want planar speed without an open-back design. Buyers who need wireless connectivity or active noise cancellation should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How does the 106mm planar driver handle heat during long listening sessions?

The closed-back enclosure keeps the driver cool without active cooling, so extended use does not raise earcup temperature noticeably.

Will the 3.5mm connector work straight from my phone or do I need an amplifier?

The 3.5mm plug connects directly to any standard headphone jack; an external amplifier is optional for higher volume or lower noise.

Do I need to buy a separate cable or adapter to use these headphones?

A 3.5mm cable is included, so no extra purchase is required for typical portable or desktop sources.
