Monolith M1570C 106mm Planar Headphones

The Monolith M1570C is a new pair of closed-back over-ear headphones that use 106mm planar magnetic drivers. A dual linear symmetry magnet array is engineered to produce a wide soundstage, airy highs and tight bass. The 1/4-inch plug connects directly to desktop amplifiers or audio interfaces. Weighing 4.37 units, the padded headband and faux-leather earpads are built for long sessions.

Who these suit and who they don't

Listeners who want isolating closed-back planars for critical desktop listening will appreciate the sealed design and large driver area. Buyers who need wireless convenience, active noise cancellation or a lightweight portable option should look elsewhere. The fixed quarter-inch termination also makes them awkward for phones or laptops without an adapter.

Deciding specification — 106mm planar driver

The 106mm planar magnetic driver with dual linear symmetry magnets is the single spec that defines this model. It determines the extended frequency response, low distortion and spacious imaging that separate the M1570C from smaller dynamic-headphone designs. If your source gear cannot drive planar loads cleanly, the potential of this driver will not be realised.

Questions about this item

What difference does the 106 mm planar driver make compared to smaller drivers?

The 106 mm planar driver uses a dual linear symmetry magnet array to produce an extended soundstage, airy highs and tight, deep bass while keeping the closed-back isolation intact.

How does the closed-back design affect the listening experience in a typical room?

The closed-back enclosure blocks outside noise from entering and prevents your music from leaking out, so the sonic landscape remains undisturbed even in less-than-silent environments.

What does the 1/4-inch audio plug mean for connecting to my equipment?

The 1/4-inch plug connects directly to professional headphone amplifiers, audio interfaces and hi-fi components without needing an adapter.
