Rear wheel hub assembly for 2008-2014 Subaru Impreza
The Moog 512401 is a new direct-replacement hub and bearing unit built for the rear driven axle on 2008 through 2014 Subaru Impreza models. It uses a steel ball bearing with 27 splines and a 3.306 inch hub pilot diameter. The rectangular flange carries five M12-1.25 lug bolts on a 4.882 inch bolt circle. This part also fits several other Subaru, Scion and Toyota models listed in the fitment data.
Sustained load behaviour of the ball bearing hub
The ball bearing design handles continuous cornering and straight-line loads on the driven rear axle without the speed limitation of a tapered roller unit. Steel construction and the 27-spline interface transmit torque steadily through the 4.796 inch overall hub height. Four mounting bolts secure the flange to the knuckle at a 66.548 mm offset. The assembly is engineered for the full service interval expected of an OE-style replacement.
Thermals noise and power draw in normal use
As a passive mechanical component the hub generates no electrical power draw and produces no audible noise of its own. Operating temperature follows brake and ambient conditions rather than an internal heat source. The sealed ball bearing retains factory grease for the life of the part, so no maintenance or re-lubrication is required. Black finish resists corrosion under road spray and winter salt.

Questions about this item
How much heat or noise does the 512401 hub generate during all-day driving?
As a sealed ball-bearing hub it runs at normal drivetrain temperature and produces no audible noise beyond standard tyre and road sound.
Which existing parts must stay on the car for this assembly to bolt up?
The unit reuses the original four M12-1.25 knuckle bolts and mates to a 27-spline driveshaft; the five M12-1.25 lug bolts are supplied new.
Will the 124 mm flange diameter and 83.972 mm pilot fit the 2008-2014 Impreza knuckle without modification?
Yes — the flange diameter, bolt pattern and 83.972 mm pilot match the factory rear hub on every listed Impreza model year.
