MOONDROP MD-HP-032 Old Fashioned 40mm On-Ear Headphone 32Ω 3.5mm

What this on-ear headphone delivers

The MOONDROP Old Fashioned uses a 40mm dynamic driver with a three-layer rigid-flex composite diaphragm. Its open-back design targets listeners who want an airy presentation with a wide soundstage. At 32 ohms impedance and 109 dB/Vrms sensitivity it reaches comfortable volumes from portable sources without a dedicated amplifier. The 3.5 mm stereo plug connects to phones, laptops and desktop audio outputs.

What to verify before ordering

Your source must provide a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack or a suitable adapter. The open-back construction leaks sound in both directions so it suits quiet rooms rather than commutes or shared offices. Passive noise isolation depends only on the earpad seal; buyers needing active cancellation should consider a different design. The 0.78 mm 2-pin connector on each earcup allows cable replacement but requires care when swapping.

Build quality and daily use

Earcups and headband detach for compact storage and the telescopic band with multi-axis swivel hinges adapts to different head shapes. A 3.5 mm plug and 0.78 mm 2-pin terminations are industry-standard so spare cables are widely available. The white finish shows wear more readily than darker colours. THD measures 0.2 % at 94 dB and 1 kHz indicating low distortion at typical listening levels.
