Audio baby monitor with DECT

The Motorola AM21v2 is a dedicated audio-only baby monitor that uses DECT wireless technology on the 1.88-1.90 GHz band to deliver a private, interference-free connection up to 1000 ft. It includes a portable parent unit and a nursery unit with a high-sensitivity microphone that detects crying and signals it with visual alerts. No Wi-Fi or app is required for operation.

Suits parents who want simple audio monitoring

This unit suits caregivers who prefer a straightforward, secure audio link without network setup or video streaming. It is not for households that want to see their baby, record clips, or receive notifications on a smartphone. Buyers needing multiple nursery cameras or two-way talk should look at other categories.

Range and frequency decide fit

The 1000 ft talking range on the 1.88-1.90 GHz DECT band determines whether the signal reaches every room in your home. If your layout demands longer reach or thicker-wall penetration, this specification is the deciding factor.

Questions about this item

What size surface does the 14.33in W x 12.83in H baby unit need?

The baby unit measures 14.33 inches wide by 12.83 inches high by 9.06 inches deep, so allow that footprint on a flat, stable surface near the cot.

How do I power the parent unit and what is the common mistake?

Insert two AAA batteries (not supplied) into the parent unit; the step often missed is ensuring both cells are fresh and correctly oriented before first use.

When should I replace the batteries in the parent unit?

Replace the two AAA cells when the power LED dims or the out-of-range alert triggers while you are still within 1000 feet of the baby unit.
