Dual-band dipole antenna covering 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz with 3 dBi and 4 dBi gain for 802.11 a/g networks
The Motorola ML-2452-APA2-01 is a dual-band dipole antenna built for television applications. It operates across 2.40 GHz to 2.50 GHz and 5.15 GHz to 5.85 GHz with gain of 3 dBi and 4 dBi respectively. Linear vertical polarisation supports 802.11 a/g wireless standards. This antenna suits installers adding wireless reception to TV equipment.
As a passive dipole the antenna draws no power and generates no heat or noise. Its VSWR of 1.92:1 indicates acceptable impedance matching across both bands. The 35° vertical and 360° horizontal beamwidths shape the radiation pattern without active cooling. Performance is stable because there are no electronic parts to age.
The 360° horizontal beamwidth gives omnidirectional coverage so orientation around the vertical axis is not critical. Vertical beamwidth of 35° focuses energy toward the horizon which suits roof or mast mounting. No external power supply or controller is required. Installers needing narrow vertical lobes or active steering should choose a different antenna type.

Mount the antenna vertically so the 35° vertical beamwidth covers the intended area; installing it horizontally rotates the 360° horizontal pattern into the vertical plane and reduces coverage.
The passive dipole has no moving parts or firmware; inspect the N-type connector and radome annually for corrosion or UV cracking and replace the unit only if physical damage degrades the 1.92:1 VSWR.
The 1.92:1 VSWR is the primary limit; sustained operation at high duty cycle can raise feed-point temperature, increasing reflected power beyond the specified VSWR before the 3 dBi gain drops.
