Desk drawer 21.2" L x 5.6" D

The Mount-It MI-7144 is a slide-out tray that mounts beneath a desk to hold pens, pencils, notepads and other small office essentials. Five built-in compartments keep supplies sorted and the work surface clear. It suits anyone who wants quick access to stationery without permanent clutter. Installation follows a simple two-step process.

Replaces loose trays and stacked organisers

This drawer replaces standalone containers that consume desktop area by moving storage out of sight. The jump is worth it when surface space is limited and you prefer a hidden compartment that slides forward up to 6.8 inches when needed. It removes the visual noise of scattered items while keeping them within reach.

Check desk clearance and mounting surface

Verify the underside of your desk offers at least 21.2 inches of uninterrupted length and 5.6 inches of depth for the unit body. Confirm there are no cross-braces, drawers or cable trays blocking the slide path. Ensure the material is thick enough to accept mounting screws securely.

Questions about this item

What depth clearance does the 21.2" L x 5.6" D drawer need beneath the desk?

The unit itself is 5.6 inches deep, so you need at least that much clear depth under the work surface for the drawer body to sit flush.

What is the most common mistake when installing the two-step MI-7144 slide-out drawer?

Users often mount the brackets before confirming the slide rails extend the full 6.8 inches without hitting a desk cross-brace or their own legs.

How do I maintain the slide mechanism on the MI-7144 over time?

Wipe the rails clean of dust and apply a light silicone spray once a year to keep the 6.8-inch extension running smoothly.
