Connects four RS-232 serial devices to a 10/100 Ethernet network with independent port operation and an LCD panel for configuration
The Moxa NPort 5410 connects up to four serial devices to a 10/100 Ethernet network. Each DB9 male port operates independently, making the unit suitable for integrating legacy RS-232 equipment into modern TCP/IP environments. An onboard LCD panel with push buttons provides local configuration without a PC. The metal housing supports desktop, DIN-rail or wall mounting.
The 181 x 103 x 33 mm metal enclosure dissipates heat without fans, so acoustic output is zero in normal operation. Dual DC power inputs allow redundant supply connections for improved reliability. Power consumption remains low because the Ethernet interface is limited to 10 and 100 Mbit/s data rates. The unit weighs 740 g.
Each of the four RS-232 channels maintains its configured baud rate during sustained data transfer because the ports operate independently. The 10/100 Ethernet link sets a fixed bandwidth ceiling that does not fluctuate with burst traffic. Adjustable termination and pull high/low resistors keep signal integrity stable over long cables. The fanless design prevents thermal throttling during extended sessions.

Clip the unit onto a DIN rail until it locks; the step often missed is connecting both dual DC power inputs for redundant supply before powering on.
No scheduled maintenance is required; the metal-housed unit has no moving parts, so only occasional dust removal from the vents and verification of the dual DC power connections are needed.
The 10/100 Ethernet LAN port caps throughput at 100 Mbit/s, which becomes the bottleneck before the four RS-232 ports reach their individual limits.
