Four-port RS-232 device server

The Moxa NPort 5410 connects up to four RS-232 serial devices to a 10/100 Ethernet network. It suits engineers who need to integrate legacy PLCs, meters or controllers into modern IP infrastructure without rewriting device firmware.

10/100 Ethernet limits throughput

The 10/100 auto-sensing port caps network bandwidth at 100 Mbps, so high-volume data logging or simultaneous heavy traffic on all four ports may saturate the link. Real COM, TCP server, TCP client and UDP socket modes are supported, but Gigabit speeds are not available.

DB9 connectors and compact metal case

Each port uses a standard DB9 male connector, letting you plug existing RS-232 cables directly without gender changers. The rugged metal housing is built for DIN-rail or wall mounting in cabinets, so vibration and temperature swings in industrial sites are handled without extra brackets.

Questions about this item

How do I decide between the single 5410 unit and a multi-unit setup?

The 5410 provides four DB9 male RS-232 ports on one device; add a second unit only if you need more than four serial connections.

What does the 10/100 Ethernet rating mean for my serial traffic?

The auto-sensing 10/100M Ethernet link carries encapsulated serial data; throughput will not exceed the 100 Mbit/s physical layer.

Which socket modes does the 5410 support for integrating with my application?

The server operates in TCP server, TCP client, UDP or Real COM mode, selectable through the web, Telnet or Windows utility.
