Herald-BE Wi-Fi 7 adapter for desktop PCs

The MSI Herald-BE adds Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 to a desktop through a PCI Express slot. It targets builders who want the 6 GHz band and multi-link operation without replacing the motherboard. Windows 11 is required for Wi-Fi 7 features; Windows 10 works for Bluetooth and legacy bands.

5.8 Gbps peak throughput with 320 MHz channels

The NCM865 module reaches 5.8 Gbps using 320 MHz channel width on 6 GHz and 4096-QAM modulation. The 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands remain available for compatibility. Throughput drops when the 6 GHz band is congested or when the router lacks 320 MHz support.

PCI Express card with external antenna

The half-height card fits a standard PCIe slot and ships with a high-gain external antenna for flexible placement. It needs a free slot and Windows 11 or 10. The external antenna frees the rear I/O from fixed whip antennas and improves coverage in metal cases.

Questions about this item

Will the PCI Express slot on my older motherboard work with this Wi-Fi 7 adapter?

The card uses a PCI Express interface and Windows 10 or 11 for plug-and-play installation; Wi-Fi 7 features require Windows 11.

How can I confirm the 320 MHz channel width is active on the 6 GHz band after setup?

In Windows 11 network properties, check the link speed and channel width fields — they should show 320 MHz when connected to a compatible 6 GHz access point.

Does the box include the external antenna or do I need to buy one separately?

The product ships with a high-gain external antenna included; no separate antenna purchase is required.
