Compact desktop for everyday tasks

The MSI Cubi 5 12M-266US is a mini PC built around an Intel Core i3-1215U processor with six cores running at 1.20 GHz. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory at 3200 MHz and a 1 TB NVMe solid-state drive. Windows 11 Home 64-bit is pre-installed. The system targets home users and small offices needing a quiet, space-saving computer for web browsing, office applications and 4K or 8K video playback.

Simple VESA mounting and cable checks

Installation consists of attaching the optional VESA bracket using the 75x75 mm or 100x100 mm pattern behind a monitor, then connecting the 65 W power adapter and peripherals. The main difficulties are forgetting to seat the single memory module fully if you upgrade later, and using a Thunderbolt 4 cable that does not support the full 40 Gbps data rate. Ensure the monitor input matches the HDMI, DisplayPort or Thunderbolt 4 output you plan to use.

Verify display inputs and network needs

Before ordering, confirm your display accepts HDMI, DisplayPort or USB-C with Thunderbolt 4 signalling for up to three simultaneous screens. The wired LAN port reaches 10 GbE only when paired with a Thunderbolt-to-10GbE switch, so standard gigabit switches will limit throughput. The 65 W power brick is proprietary; replacements must match the original specification. Buyers who need discrete graphics, additional internal drive bays or user-replaceable CPU cooling should consider a larger chassis.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the Intel Core i3-1215U is running at its 1.20 GHz base frequency after setup?

Open Task Manager in Windows 11 Home, select the Performance tab, choose CPU, and confirm the base speed reads 1.20 GHz while the system is idle.

What comes in the box and what must I purchase separately for the Cubi 5 12M-266US?

The mini PC, a 65 W power adapter, and a VESA mount bracket for 75x75 or 100x100 mm patterns are included; a monitor, keyboard, and mouse are not.

Which memory configuration should I choose if I want to expand the 8 GB DDR4 later?

The system ships with one 8 GB DDR4 3200 MHz module in a single slot, leaving the second SO-DIMM slot free for an identical DDR4 stick.
