15.6-inch 144Hz gaming laptop

The Katana 15 is a 15.6-inch gaming laptop built around a 144Hz FHD panel and a 16-core Intel Core i7-14650HX processor. It ships with 32GB of DDR5 4800 memory and a 1TB PCIe SSD, running Windows 11 Home. The chassis measures 14.13 by 10.31 by 0.99 inches and weighs 5.29 pounds.

RTX 5050 8GB GDDR7 graphics

The single specification that decides fit is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 laptop GPU with 8GB of GDDR7 video memory. This discrete graphics engine drives the 1920 by 1080 display at up to 144Hz and connects to external monitors through an HDMI 2.1 port.

32GB DDR5 and 1TB PCIe headroom

Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR5 4800 memory gives comfortable headroom for modern titles, streaming and multitasking workloads. The 1TB PCIe SSD provides fast storage for a large game library, though heavy media creators may eventually add external capacity.

Questions about this item

What does the 144Hz refresh rate mean when I am actually gaming on this 15.6" FHD panel?

The 144Hz panel refreshes the image up to 144 times per second, so motion in fast-paced titles stays sharp and input lag feels low on the 1920 x 1080 screen.

What does the HDMI 2.1 port let me connect in practice?

The HDMI 2.1 output can drive an external 4K display at high refresh rates or an 8K panel at lower rates, and it also carries audio over a single cable.

Will the 14.13 x 10.31 x 0.99 inch chassis fit in a standard 15.6" laptop sleeve?

Yes, those dimensions match a typical 15.6" form factor, so most sleeves and backpacks sized for 15.6" laptops will accommodate the 5.29-pound chassis.
