15.6-inch QHD 165Hz gaming laptop

The MSI Katana pairs a 15.6-inch 2560x1440 165 Hz IPS panel with an Intel Core i7-14650HX 16-core processor and 16GB DDR5 memory. A 1024GB SSD handles boot and game libraries while Windows 11 Home runs out of the box.

For players who want high refresh QHD on a single

The RTX 5070 with 8GB GDDR7 drives the internal screen at 165 Hz for competitive titles. Buyers who need more than 16GB RAM or a second storage drive should look at configurations with extra slots or larger factory fits.

RTX 5070 8GB GDDR7 graphics

This GPU is the part that determines frame rates at the panel's native 2560x1440 165 Hz. If the target workload needs more video memory or a different GPU tier, this model will not match the requirement.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the i7-14650HX with 16 cores and 24 threads get when running all day?

The 16-core i7-14650HX has P-cores up to 5.2 GHz and E-cores up to 3.7 GHz; the flash-based 1024 GB SSD adds no moving-part noise and reduces heat production and power draw on the 4-cell battery.

What must I already own to use the USB 3.2 Gen 2/DP port with PD 3.0 charging?

You need a USB-C device or dock that supports DisplayPort alt mode and USB Power Delivery 3.0 to drive an external display and charge the laptop through that single port.

Will my older HDMI 2.0 monitor run at the panel's 165 Hz QHD resolution?

The HDMI port is version 2.1, so an HDMI 2.0 monitor will be limited to its own maximum refresh rate at 2560x1440 rather than the panel's full 165 Hz.
