15.6" QHD 165Hz Gaming Laptop

The MSI Katana 15 HX-17 is a 15.6 inch gaming laptop with a 2560 x 1440 IPS-level display running at 165 Hz. It pairs an Intel Core i7-14650HX processor that reaches 5.2 GHz with 96 GB of DDR5 memory and a 2 TB PCIe SSD. An NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU with 8 GB GDDR7 handles graphics workloads. The system ships with Windows 11 Pro and a 4-zone RGB keyboard.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This machine targets gamers and creators who need high frame rates at QHD resolution and plenty of memory for multitasking or content work. The 16-core CPU and fast refresh panel support competitive play and editing timelines alike. Buyers who prioritise maximum portability or longer unplugged runtime should look elsewhere, as the 55.2 Wh battery and 1 inch chassis thickness favour plugged-in performance.

The spec that decides fit

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 with 8 GB GDDR7 is the single specification that determines whether this laptop matches your workload. It defines the ceiling for modern gaming features such as DLSS and for GPU-accelerated creative apps. If your titles or tools demand more video memory or a higher GPU tier, this unit will not meet that requirement.
