15.6" 144Hz Ryzen 9 RTX 4070 laptop

The MSI Katana A15 is a 15.6-inch gaming laptop driven by an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processor with 8 cores and 16 threads. It pairs that CPU with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU equipped with 8GB of GDDR6 memory. A 144Hz full-HD display, 16GB of DDR5 RAM and a 512GB PCIe SSD complete the core specification. Windows 11 Home is pre-installed.

Gamers needing high refresh rates.

This machine suits players who want smooth motion on a 144Hz panel and the rendering headroom of an RTX 4070 for modern titles at high settings. The 16GB DDR5 allocation handles current games and everyday multitasking without bottlenecking the GPU. Buyers who want more storage out of the box should look elsewhere, as the factory SSD is 512GB. Users who prefer a larger screen or a higher-resolution panel will also need a different model.

RTX 4070 8GB GDDR6 graphics

The single specification that decides fit is the GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU with 8GB of GDDR6 video memory. It determines which titles run at the panel's 144Hz refresh rate and at what quality preset. If the workload demands more video memory or a higher GPU tier, this configuration will not meet the requirement.

Questions about this item

What are the exact dimensions of the 15.6 inch laptop chassis?

The chassis measures 14.05 x 10.2 x 1 inches and weighs 5 pounds, so check your bag or sleeve against those figures before buying.

Which screws and clips must be removed to reach the single SO-DIMM slot and the M.2 SSD bay?

Remove all bottom-case screws, then pry the panel from the front edge; the memory slot and SSD bay sit side-by-side under the metal shield — re-seat the shield before snapping the case back.

How often should the Cooler Boost 5 fans and heat-pipes be cleaned to keep the Ryzen 9 8945HS and RTX 4070 at safe temperatures?

Blow dust from both fan intakes every 3-6 months; if temperatures climb, remove the bottom cover and gently brush the heat-pipe fins — no liquid cooling loop exists to service.
