Intel Core i9-14900HX gaming laptop

The MSI Katana 15 is a 15.6 inch Windows 11 Home laptop built around a 24 core Intel Core i9-14900HX processor. It targets gamers and creators who want high frame rates on a QHD+ panel without moving to a larger chassis. The 165Hz anti-glare IPS display covers 45% NTSC in a 16:9 aspect ratio. A 4-zone RGB keyboard and 720p webcam complete the everyday feature set.

GeForce RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7 graphics

The discrete GeForce RTX 5070 with 12GB GDDR7 memory is the single component that decides whether this configuration matches a buyer's workload. It drives the 2560 x 1600 panel at up to 165Hz and connects to external displays through the HDMI 2.1 port. System memory is 16GB DDR5 and the boot drive is a 512GB PCIe SSD. No SD card reader is fitted.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

The 0.98 inch thick black chassis weighs 4.96 pounds and houses a standard cooling assembly for the 14900HX and RTX 5070 combination. Under mixed gaming load the fans spin up audibly but remain within typical laptop limits. Surface temperatures stay comfortable for keyboard use while the bottom warm zone is noticeable on bare laps. Battery life drops quickly under heavy GPU load so mains power is expected for extended sessions.
