15.6 144Hz gaming laptop for creators

The Katana A15 pairs an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS 8-core processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 8GB GDDR6 GPU. A 15.6 inch FHD display running at 144Hz delivers smooth motion for fast-paced titles. 16GB DDR5 memory and a 1TB PCIe SSD provide capacity for large project files and game libraries. Windows 11 Home is pre-installed.

Office 2024 licence and RGB keyboard included

A perpetual Office 2024 licence activates immediately, removing the need for a separate subscription purchase. The standard RGB backlit keyboard offers per-key lighting control through MSI Center software. A 720p webcam and combo audio jack support streaming without extra peripherals. Wired Ethernet, HDMI, USB 3.2 Type-C and two USB 3.2 Type-A ports handle external displays and storage.

Engineer-opened chassis for upgrade validation

The factory seal is broken by technicians to install the listed memory and storage configuration, then the system is stress-tested before shipment. This process reduces the chance of DOA components but means the original packaging shows opened seals. Retain all paperwork for the separate 1-year upgrade warranty and the standard 1-year manufacturer warranty. No fingerprint reader is fitted.

Questions about this item

Will the 16GB DDR5 memory need to be upgraded for heavier workloads?

The 16GB DDR5 is soldered and cannot be expanded; only the 1TB PCIe SSD slot is user-accessible for future storage upgrades.

Does the Ryzen 9 8945HS hit its 5.2 GHz turbo limit before the RTX 4070 8GB GDDR6 saturates?

In extended gaming sessions the CPU typically reaches its 5.2 GHz ceiling first, while the GPU still has headroom at 1440p output over HDMI.

How loud do the fans get and what temperatures appear after hours of 144Hz gaming?

Fan noise rises to a noticeable hum; keyboard deck centres near 45 °C and the rear exhaust vents push warm air steadily.
