18-inch QHD+ 240Hz gaming laptop

The MSI Vector A18 pairs an 18.0-inch 2560 x 1600 IPS-level panel at 240Hz with an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX 16-core processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 graphics. It ships with 64GB DDR5 memory, a 1TB PCIe SSD, Windows 11 Home and an Office 2021 licence. The chassis measures 15.91 x 12.09 x 1.26 inches and weighs 7.94 pounds.

Upgrading from lower-tier mobile GPUs

Moving from an RTX 40-series laptop GPU to the RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 delivers a generational uplift in raster and compute throughput, while the 16-core Ryzen 9 9955HX with 5.4 GHz turbo frequency replaces 8- or 12-core mobile CPUs for heavy multithreaded workloads. The jump is worth it when you need 240Hz competitive gaming and content-creation headroom in a single mobile chassis.

USB 4 and HDMI 2.1 connectivity limits

Two USB 4 ports with DisplayPort and Power Delivery 3.1 support external GPUs and high-refresh displays, but total PCIe lane allocation caps simultaneous full-speed peripheral use. HDMI 2.1 outputs 8K at 60Hz or 4K at 120Hz, yet driving the internal 240Hz panel plus multiple external monitors may exceed the mobile GPU's display-controller budget.
