128GB DDR5 ECC RDIMM Kit

This 128GB memory kit contains eight 16GB registered DDR5 modules rated at 4800 MT/s with CL40 latency. It is built for the Dell Precision 7960 rack or tower workstation and operates at 1.1V with on-die ECC protection. The 1Rx8 organisation and 288-pin RDIMM form factor match the platform's registered memory requirement.

For Precision 7960 workstations only

The kit is validated for the Dell Precision 7960 and will not function in consumer motherboards, laptops or servers that require unbuffered UDIMM or SO-DIMM modules. Buyers who need non-ECC memory, lower capacities or different speeds should look at other products. Systems that do not support registered ECC RDIMMs cannot use this kit.

Registered ECC RDIMM requirement

The single specification that decides compatibility is the registered ECC RDIMM design; the workstation must accept 288-pin DDR5 RDIMMs with ECC enabled. If the platform expects unbuffered memory or does not support ECC, the modules will not post.

Questions about this item

Will the 288-pin DDR5 modules need any cleaning or replacement over time?

The modules have no heat spreader and use 1.10 V registered ECC DDR5; they are solid-state with no moving parts, so no routine cleaning or scheduled replacement is required.

What limit appears first when the 128 GB kit runs at 4800 MT/s continuously?

The CAS latency of CL40 at 4800 MT/s sets the timing boundary; sustained workloads will hit that latency ceiling before any thermal throttle on the bare DRAM.

How much heat and noise do the 1.1 V registered DIMMs produce in a Dell Precision 7960 running all day?

At 1.1 V with no heat spreader, each 16 GB 1Rx8 module draws minimal power and generates little heat; the system fans stay quiet because the memory itself is silent.
