DDR5 4800 registered ECC constraints

Registered DDR5 4800 modules operate at 1.1V with CL40 latency and a 1Rx8 organisation. The registered buffer adds one clock cycle of address latency, so the memory controller must support registered ECC RDIMMs; unbuffered or non-ECC slots will not accept these modules.

Tool-free DIMM installation

Each 288-pin module keys into the server DDR5 slot and locks with the ejection levers; no tools are required. The usual failure points are mixing registered and unbuffered DIMMs in the same channel or populating slots in an order the board firmware does not recognise.
