24-port Gigabit PoE+ switch for IP deployments

The GS728TP-200NAS delivers 24 RJ45 ports at 10/100/1000 Mbps plus four 1000BASE-X SFP uplinks for fibre backhaul. It supplies 802.3at PoE+ on every copper port with a 190 W total budget, powering access points, cameras or VoIP handsets without separate injectors. A web browser interface handles initial setup and ongoing management. Rack-mountable and fan-optimised, it runs at 31 dB in a 25 °C room.

190 W PoE+ budget and copper distance limits

Each port can provide up to 30 W, but the shared 190 W pool means only a subset of ports can draw maximum power simultaneously; plan device counts accordingly. Gigabit over twisted pair is restricted to 100 m per link, so remote endpoints beyond that range require the SFP fibre ports or intermediate switches. The 1.5 MB packet buffer absorbs short bursts but does not eliminate congestion under sustained oversubscription.

16K MAC table and 32 static routes for Layer 3 lite

The 16K MAC address table supports moderate device populations, while 32 IPv4/IPv6 static routes handle basic inter-VLAN routing without a full router. Features such as VLAN, QoS, IGMP snooping, LACP, SNMP and ACL cover typical SMB policies. It is not a core aggregation switch: no stacking, no dynamic routing protocols and a single fixed internal PSU limit high-availability designs.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 24-port PoE+ model with 190 W budget or a smaller switch?

The GS728TP-200NAS gives you 24 Gigabit PoE+ ports and a 190 W total budget; choose it when you need to power many devices from one rack unit.

What does the 190 W PoE budget deliver in a live rack?

It powers all 24 ports at up to 30 W each, but the combined draw cannot exceed 190 W, so plan device loads accordingly.

How do the four SFP ports connect to the rest of the network?

The four 1000BASE-X SFP slots accept standard Gigabit fibre modules for uplinks or inter-switch links.
