Instant Wi-Fi 7 upgrade for Windows 11

The Netgear Nighthawk A9000-100PAS is a USB 3.0 adapter that adds tri-band Wi-Fi 7 connectivity to compatible PCs. It targets users who want up to 6.5 Gbps wireless speeds for 4K or 8K streaming, video calls and online gaming without installing an internal card. The flip-open antenna and included cradle help optimise signal reception.

Check USB port and router compatibility

Your PC must run Windows 11 and provide a free USB 2.0 or 3.0 port for the adapter or its cradle cable. A Wi-Fi 7 router operating on the 6 GHz band is required to reach the advertised 6.5 Gbps maximum; older routers will fall back to 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz operation. No internal expansion slot or separate power supply is needed.

Thermals noise and power draw

The adapter draws power directly from the USB bus, so no external power brick is required and system power impact is minimal. Passive cooling keeps the device silent during normal streaming or gaming sessions. The compact black housing stays cool to the touch under typical tri-band workloads.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box with the A9000-100PAS and do I need to buy a separate cable?

The package includes the BE6500 WiFi 7 USB 3.0 adapter with a flippable antenna, a USB 3.0 cable with cradle, an installation USB thumb drive and a Quick Start Guide. No extra cable is required.

Which Wi-Fi 7 speed tier does the BE6500 label represent for this adapter?

BE6500 indicates a combined wireless data rate of up to 6.5 Gbps across the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz tri-band radios.

What does the 6.5 Gbps headline speed mean when the adapter is plugged into a Windows 11 PC?

It is the maximum theoretical throughput under Wi-Fi 7 using all three bands; real-world speed depends on router capability, band selection, signal quality and the USB 3.0 link.
