Copper Reducing Tee 1/4 x 5/16 x 1/4
This sweat fitting tee connects three copper tubes using cup connections on every outlet. It is made from wrot copper and suits potable water systems. The reducing layout steps the middle branch down to 5/16 inch while the two straight branches remain at 1/4 inch. Plumbers use it to join supply lines of different diameters in residential and light commercial work.
Sweat joint reliability under pressure
Once soldered, the cup joints form a permanent metallic bond that does not loosen with vibration or thermal cycling. The wrot copper body resists corrosion and maintains its shape when the system is pressurised for long periods. No mechanical fasteners or gaskets are present to degrade over time. The fitting is rated for standard potable water pressures found in typical installations.
Copper tube sizing constraint
The cup connections accept only the listed outer diameters of 3/8 inch, 7/16 inch and 3/8 inch respectively. Builders who need a different combination of tube sizes cannot use this fitting. It also cannot be adapted to threaded, compression or push-fit pipe without additional components. The reducing tee shape fixes the flow path to one smaller branch between two equal larger branches.

Questions about this item
Will the wrot copper body of the 611RR reducing tee handle constant hot water flow without excessive heat loss?
Wrot copper conducts heat efficiently, so the tee will reach water temperature quickly; insulate the joint if you need to minimise heat loss during all-day circulation.
What tube and tools must I have on hand to sweat the 1/4 in, 5/16 in and 1/4 in cup connections?
You need copper tube with 3/8 in, 7/16 in and 3/8 in outer diameters plus flux, lead-free solder and a torch for sweat joints.
Can I join the 611RR tee to existing 1/2 in copper pipe without replacing the old runs?
The tee accepts only 3/8 in and 7/16 in OD tube; stepping up to 1/2 in pipe requires a separate reducer fitting.
