Cast Bronze P-Trap for 1 1/2 in Copper
The NIBCO 884 is a sweat-fitting P-trap made from cast bronze for air and non-potable water lines. It connects 1 1/2 in copper tube on both ends using cup-style solder joints. The fitting meets ASME B16.23 and ASTM B584 standards.
Sweat connections shape the install
Both ends are plain cup fittings, so the trap is soldered directly to copper tube without threads or unions. That means a permanent, leak-resistant joint once the joint is made, but it also requires a torch and soldering skill during assembly.
Bronze body rated for 577 psi at 200 °F
The cast bronze construction handles up to 577 psi at 200 °F and a maximum temperature of 400 °F. Bronze resists corrosion in the listed applications, and the material complies with ISO 9001 quality requirements. Not intended for potable water systems.

Questions about this item
Will the bronze P-trap need replacement due to corrosion or wear over time?
The cast bronze construction resists corrosion in air and non-potable water applications, and the sweat copper connections create permanent joints that do not require periodic tightening or seal replacement.
What pressure or temperature limit will be reached first during continuous operation?
The fitting is rated for a maximum operating pressure of 577 psi at 200 degrees F and a maximum operating temperature of 400 degrees F, so the pressure limit at elevated temperature is the governing constraint.
Does the bronze trap generate noise, heat or power draw when installed in a constantly flowing system?
As a passive bronze fitting with no moving parts or electrical components, it produces no noise, adds no heat beyond the fluid temperature and draws zero power.
