Nikon AF-S DX Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G Macro Lens Bundle with 64GB Card

Nikon 40mm f/2.8G DX Macro Prime

The Nikon AF-S DX Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G is a 60mm-equivalent macro prime lens designed for DX-format cameras. It delivers 1:1 life-size magnification with a 6.4-inch minimum focusing distance. The lens features a Silent Wave Motor for fast autofocus and full-time manual override. Super Integrated Coating reduces flare and ghosting for improved contrast.

Upgrade from standard zoom lenses

Standard zoom lenses typically cannot achieve 1:1 magnification or focus as close as 6.4 inches. The Close Range Correction system maintains sharpness across the entire focus range, which basic zooms lack at close distances. This jump is worth it when your work demands true macro reproduction ratios and consistent optical performance at reproduction scale. The 40mm focal length also serves well for general-purpose shooting.

Handles small-product and nature detail work

The 1:1 magnification and 6.4-inch working distance comfortably handle insect, flower, and small-product photography. The 52mm filter thread accepts standard accessories for protection or creative effects. The f/2.8 maximum aperture provides reasonable low-light capability and viewfinder brightness. The lens runs out of reach for skittish subjects needing longer working distances and lacks the compression of longer macro focal lengths.
