Reach extension for AF-S lenses

This 1.4x teleconverter extends the focal length of compatible AF-S NIKKOR lenses by 40 percent. It is built for photographers who need extra telephoto reach for sports, wildlife or surveillance work without carrying a longer prime lens. The converter maintains full autofocus operation and exposure metering with supported camera bodies. It turns a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens into a 98-280mm f/4 equivalent and a 400mm f/2.8 lens into a 560mm f/4 equivalent.

Weather-resistant barrel and fluorine coatings

The barrel is constructed to resist dust and moisture, allowing use in harsh outdoor conditions. Fluorine coatings on both front and rear elements repel water, oil and dirt, making the glass easier to clean in the field. The Nikon F mount fits both FX and DX format AF-S NIKKOR lenses, so the same converter works across different sensor sizes. Only select NIKKOR lenses are compatible, so buyers with older AF-D, manual-focus or third-party glass cannot use this unit.

One-stop light loss with VR support

The optical design adds only a single stop of exposure reduction while preserving the lens's vibration-reduction performance. Autofocus speed and accuracy remain consistent with the master lens on supported bodies. No extra power draw or battery drain is introduced because the converter contains no electronics of its own. Photographers who need to maintain f/2.8 aperture or who shoot with incompatible lenses will not find this converter suitable.
