Wide-angle zoom lens for FX and DX bodies

The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR covers a 16-35mm focal range on full-frame sensors and a 24-52.5mm equivalent on DX models. Its constant f/4 aperture maintains consistent exposure throughout the zoom. The bundle adds a three-piece filter kit, a lens cap keeper and a cleaning kit for immediate use.

Constant aperture and VR II stabilisation limits

The fixed f/4 maximum aperture does not widen at the wide end, restricting low-light depth-of-field control compared to faster primes. Vibration reduction compensates for approximately 2.5 stops of shake, which helps handheld shooting but cannot freeze subject motion. The 77mm filter thread accepts standard circular filters without vignetting at 16mm.

F-mount attachment and bundled accessories

The lens mounts directly on Nikon F-mount cameras; no adapter is required for FX or DX bodies. The included HB-23 bayonet hood and CL-1120 soft case protect the front element during transport. The snap-on 77mm cap and rear cap secure quickly, while the cap keeper prevents loss in the field.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the lens alone or the bundle with the 3-piece filter kit, cap keeper and cleaning kit?

The bundle adds a 3-piece filter kit for the 77mm thread, a cap keeper and a cleaning kit, giving immediate protection and maintenance without separate purchases.

What does the constant f/4 aperture mean when I zoom from 16mm to 35mm?

The maximum aperture stays at f/4 across the entire zoom range, so exposure does not change when you shift focal length.

How does the VR II stabilisation work with the F-mount on my camera?

VR II reduces camera shake by 2.5 stops and operates through the lens's own Silent Wave Motor, independent of the camera body.
