Full-frame DSLR body for stills shooters

The Nikon D610 is a full-frame DSLR camera body built around a 24.3 megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor. It targets photographers who want high-resolution stills with wide dynamic range and low-light capability up to an extended ISO 25600. The EXPEED 3 processor drives image quality and operational speed. This body is sold without a lens.

Sustained shooting at 6 fps with quiet mode

Under continuous use the camera maintains a 6 frames per second rate at full resolution. The EXPEED 3 processor and sensor combination supports this throughput while preserving low noise and smooth tonal gradations. A quiet shooting mode captures sequences without the mirror raising or lowering, reducing vibration and sound during extended sessions. The 39-point Multi-CAM 4800 autofocus sensor tracks subjects across the frame during these bursts.

Magnesium-alloy chassis

The body uses a magnesium-alloy construction that resists flex during handheld use. A built-in flash includes commander mode for controlling compatible off-camera Speedlights without extra hardware. The 3.2 inch 921k-dot LCD monitor provides clear image review and menu navigation. An optional WU-1b wireless mobile adapter adds remote control and image transfer. Buyers needing dual card slots or 4K video should consider other models.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise does the EXPEED 3 processor generate during long 6 fps bursts?

The camera includes a quiet shooting mode that prevents the mirror from raising or lowering during sequential capture, reducing mechanical noise during extended use.

Which lens mount must I already own to attach glass to this FX-format body?

This body uses the Nikon F mount, so any compatible F-mount lens you already have will work with the 24.3MP FX-format sensor.

Will my older AF-D lenses autofocus with the Multi-CAM 4800 39-point sensor?

The 39-point AF module drives screw-drive AF-D lenses, so legacy glass retains autofocus capability on this body.
