Portrait prime for Z-mount mirrorless

The NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.8 S is a short-telephoto prime built for FX-format Z-mount cameras. Its bright f/1.8 maximum aperture suits low-light portraiture while keeping the lens compact enough for handheld shooting. A programmable control ring adds direct access to exposure settings. The kit includes a 67mm UV filter for front-element protection.

Optical performance at working apertures

Two extra-low dispersion elements reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations across the frame. Nano Crystal and Super Integrated Coatings suppress flare and ghosting when shooting into light sources. The multi-focus system uses two stepping motors to deliver fast, accurate and quiet autofocus with full-time manual override for both stills and video.

Handling and build in daily use

The lens balances speed and portability for extended sessions without excessive bulk. Stepping-motor focus runs near-silently, an advantage for video work and quiet environments. Weather-resistant sealing helps the lens cope with light moisture and dust during outdoor portrait sessions. The included 67mm filter threads on without adding noticeable front weight.
