Nikon Prostaff P3 8x30 binocular

The Nikon Prostaff P3 is an 8x30 roof prism binocular built for outdoor observation. It combines 8x magnification with a 30mm objective lens and 15.4mm eye relief for comfortable viewing. Multilayer coated lenses and a reflective silver-alloy coating boost brightness and colour fidelity. A rubber-armoured body provides grip and durability in the field.

Ideal for birdwatchers and hikers needing wide views

The 8.7-degree angle of view delivers a generous 456 feet at 1,000 yards, making subject acquisition fast. Waterproofing to 3.3 feet and fog-proof lenses suit changeable weather. Buyers requiring higher magnification for distant detail or larger objectives for low-light performance should consider other models. The compact 30mm aperture limits light gathering compared to full-size binoculars.

8x magnification with 30mm objectives and wide field

The 8x power brings distant subjects close while the 8.7-degree field captures broad scenes at 456 feet per 1,000 yards. Eye relief of 15.4mm accommodates spectacle wearers comfortably. Waterproof sealing handles rain and splashes down to 3.3 feet but is not rated for submersion. Low-light capability is constrained by the 30mm objective diameter.

Questions about this item

Do I need a tripod or mount to use the 8x30 binoculars?

No, the 8x magnification and 30mm objective lenses are designed for handheld use; the rubber-armored body provides a secure grip without additional support.

Will the 8.7-degree angle of view feel narrow compared to older 7x models I have used?

The 8.7-degree angle delivers a 456-foot field at 1,000 yards, which is wider than many 7x binoculars and makes subject tracking easier.

How can I confirm the multilayer coatings and silver-alloy prism coating are performing after I take them outside?

Look for bright, high-contrast images with minimal glare and accurate color rendition across the 8.7-degree view in varying light.
