What this game is

Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! is a Nintendo Switch adventure set in the Kanto region. You play with Pikachu as your partner to battle trainers and become a top Pokémon Trainer. The game supports single-player and two-player action using Joy-Con controllers. It is sold as a new physical cartridge.

Control and accessory limits

The entire game can be played with a single Joy-Con using motion controls to catch Pokémon. A Poké Ball Plus accessory adds light, vibration and sound feedback but is sold separately. Two-player mode requires a second Joy-Con or Poké Ball Plus. Connection to the Pokémon GO app needs a compatible smartphone and internet access.

Core progression system

Catching wild Pokémon uses a throwing motion with timing rather than traditional battle weakening. True-to-size Pokémon roam the overworld visibly before encounters. This mechanic replaces standard random battles and defines the core gameplay loop. Players who prefer classic turn-based weakening may find the system unfamiliar.
