Adds a wired Gigabit Ethernet port to USB-C devices at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps
The Nippon Labs 20USBC-RJ45 adds a wired network port to any device with a USB Type-C connector. It suits laptops, tablets, phones and game consoles that lack built-in Ethernet or have unreliable Wi-Fi. The adapter draws power directly from the host port so no separate supply is needed.
The single decisive spec is the USB 3.1 Gen 1 connection rated for 10, 100 and 1000 Mbps Ethernet speeds. On a USB 3.0 port the link negotiates full gigabit throughput; on a USB 2.0 port it falls back to 10/100 Mbps. IEEE 802.3, 802.3u and 802.3ab compliance ensures broad switch compatibility.
The gigabit pipe handles 4K video streams, large file transfers and competitive gaming without saturating the link. It runs out when the upstream internet plan or the host USB controller cannot sustain 1000 Mbps, or when the connected switch port is limited to 100 Mbps.

It means the adapter can negotiate a full Gigabit Ethernet link at 1000 Mbps, provided your router or switch also supports 1000BASE-T and the cabling is Cat5e or better.
The adapter uses a USB 3.1 Gen 1 connection, also referred to as USB 3.0, which caps the practical bandwidth at 5 Gbps — well above the 1 Gbps Ethernet ceiling.
Your device needs a USB Type-C port and your network cable needs an RJ45 plug; the adapter bridges the two with a USB-C male end and an RJ45 female port.
