5 m OM3 duplex LC/LC cable

This 5 metre OM3 multimode fibre cable uses LC duplex connectors and a 50/125 micron core. It is built for 10 Gigabit Ethernet links up to 300 metres with an 850 nm VCSEL source. The aqua PVC jacket carries an OFNR rating for in-wall routing.

Who this suits and who it does not

Installers running 10 GbE between switches, servers or patch panels over short distances will find the length and bandwidth a direct match. Buyers who need longer reach, single-mode fibre or a different connector type should look elsewhere.

OM3 2000 MHz·km bandwidth at 850 nm

The cable is specified at 2000 MHz·km effective modal bandwidth at 850 nm, which is the figure that determines whether a 10 Gigabit link will meet its distance target. Match this number to your transceiver and link-length requirements before purchase.

Questions about this item

Do I need LC ports on both devices to use this 5 m OM3 duplex cable?

Yes, each end terminates in an LC connector so both linked devices must provide LC receptacles.

Will this 50/125 µm OM3 cable work with my older 50/125 µm OM2 patch cords?

It is backward compatible with existing 50/125 equipment, so legacy OM2 cords can remain in the same link.

How can I confirm the cable delivers 10 Gbit/s over 300 m at 850 nm after installation?

Use a light source and power meter at 850 nm to verify the link meets the 2000 MHz·km EMB specification for OM3.
