MacBook Magnetic 3 charging cable

This USB-C to Magnetic 3 cable connects 140 W power adapters to compatible MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models from 2021 onward. The male-to-female connector carries 5 A at up to 28 V for full 140 W Power Delivery 3.1 charging. A 6.6 ft braided sheath adds durability for desk or travel use. The 12-pin magnetic tip aligns automatically and releases safely if pulled.

Sustained 140 W delivery with magnetic safety

Under continuous load the cable maintains 140 W output without thermal throttling, matching OEM charging speeds to reach 50 % battery in roughly 30 minutes. The magnetic latch holds firmly during normal use but detaches cleanly under sudden tension, protecting the laptop port. An amber LED indicates active charging and turns green when the battery is full. A brief 15–20 second handshake delay may appear with certain adapters as the safety circuit verifies the connection.

140 W PD 3.1 rating decides compatibility

The single specification that determines whether this cable fits your workflow is the 140 W Power Delivery 3.1 rating combined with the Magnetic 3 connector profile. It serves 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models from 2021 onward and 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models from 2022 onward. Buyers needing USB-A input, higher data throughput than 480 MB/s, or a non-magnetic USB-C cable should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the 140W PD 3.1 cable get warm during all-day charging?

The cable is rated for 140W at 28V and 5A; normal operation stays within USB-PD thermal limits, so it remains comfortable to touch during extended sessions.

What power adapter must I already own for this cable to deliver 140W?

You need a USB-C charger that supports 140W or 96W PD 3.1 output; the cable itself carries the power but does not generate it.

Will the Magnetic 3 tip work on my 2021 14-inch MacBook Pro?

Yes — the connector fits every 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro from 2021 onward and every 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air from 2022 onward.
