What this charger is and who it fits

This 65W USB-C power adapter delivers up to 20V 3.25A for a wide range of HP laptops including Spectre X360, EliteBook, Envy, Omnibook, Elite X2, Chromebook, Dragonfly, ZBook and ProBook models. It also supports compatible Dell, Lenovo, Acer, Samsung and Asus devices that charge over USB-C. The UK three-pin plug is built in for direct mains use.

USB-C power delivery limits

The adapter negotiates multiple output profiles from 5V 3A up to 20V 3.25A with a maximum of 65W. It accepts 100-240V 1.5A input at 50-60Hz so it works worldwide with only a plug adapter. Short-circuit protection is included. The single USB-C cable is fixed to the brick so a damaged lead means replacing the whole unit.

The specification that decides fit

Output must reach 20V 3.25A (65W) to match the original charger for the listed HP part numbers such as L32392-001, 860066-001 and 918337-001. If your laptop requires a higher voltage or current profile this adapter will not charge it at full speed. Buyers who need more than 65W or a detachable cable should look elsewhere.

The adapter automatically negotiates 5V 3A, 9V 3A, 12V 5A, 15V 4.33A or 20V 3.25A; your Spectre x360 13 will draw the 20V 3.25A profile for full 65W charging.

What does the 65W rating mean when the charger is connected to my EliteBook 840 G6?

At 20V 3.25A the unit delivers up to 65W, so an EliteBook 840 G6 charges at its maximum supported speed while you work.

Does the USB-C connector limit power delivery to a lower standard?

No, the USB-C plug carries the full 20V 3.25A 65W output defined by the adapter's own specification.
