5-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch

The No Sew TEG1005DV4.0 is an unmanaged 5-port Gigabit Ethernet switch built for homes, offices and small businesses that need extra wired connections. Five 10/100/1000Mbps RJ45 ports with auto MDI/MDIX connect PCs, NAS, NVRs, IP cameras and access points without any configuration. A 5V .6A power adapter is included for immediate plug-and-play operation.

Upgrade from 100Mbps Switches

Replacing a legacy 10/100 switch with this model jumps every port to 1000Mbps, so large file copies, high-bitrate streams and multi-device backups finish faster. The step up is worth it when your router already delivers Gigabit WAN and you want the LAN to keep pace without managing VLANs or QoS. Existing Cat5e or Cat6 patch cables work unchanged thanks to auto-negotiation.

Limits of Unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet

The switch forwards at Layer 1 with 9216-byte jumbo frames and IEEE 802.3x flow control, but it cannot prioritise traffic, segment networks or run SNMP monitoring. Sixteen kilovolt surge protection on each port helps survive spikes, yet the metal case relies on passive cooling, so sustained heavy loads in a sealed cabinet may throttle. Uplink speed is fixed at the negotiated port rate — no dedicated SFP or 10G uplink exists.

Questions about this item

What size screws or anchors are needed for the wall-mount slots on this metal case?

The switch includes a wall-mount design; use standard wood or drywall anchors with screws that fit the keyhole slots on the rear of the metal housing.

Which end of the supplied 5V 0.6A adapter plugs into the switch, and does the barrel jack click when seated?

Insert the barrel connector into the DC power port on the rear until it seats firmly; the LED indicators will light once power is applied.

If a port stops linking after a lightning strike, can that single port be repaired or must the whole unit be replaced?

The 6kV surge protection on all five RJ45 ports helps guard against spikes; if a port fails the entire unmanaged switch is replaced.
