USB-C to USB-B 2.0 cable, 6.6 ft

This cable connects a USB-C host such as a laptop or tablet to USB-B 2.0 peripherals including printers, scanners and MIDI instruments. It is built for musicians, producers and office users who need a direct wired link without adapters. The male-to-male design fits legacy Type-B ports on one end and modern Type-C ports on the other.

USB 2.0 speed ceiling and host-device roles

Data transfer is limited to the USB 2.0 High-Speed maximum of 480 Mbps, so large sample libraries or bulk scans move slower than on USB 3.1 or later interfaces. The USB-C plug must attach to the host computer; it will not function when connected to an Android phone or tablet acting as the host. Thunderbolt 3 ports on the host side are compatible.

USB-B 2.0 port requirement decides fit

The cable only fits a standard USB 2.0 Type-B female socket; it will not mate with USB 3.1 Type-B, Mini-USB or Micro-USB ports. Buyers must verify their peripheral carries the exact rectangular Type-B 2.0 connector before purchasing.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 6.6Ft length or a shorter cable for my desktop MIDI setup?

The 6.6Ft length gives comfortable reach between a USB-C host and a USB-B 2.0 device on a desk or stage without excess slack.

What does the 480 Mbps rating mean when I connect my MIDI keyboard to a MacBook Pro?

It delivers USB 2.0 High-Speed transfer, so MIDI data and firmware updates move at the full 480 Mbps the interface allows.

Does the USB-C end work with Thunderbolt 3 ports on my laptop?

Yes, the USB-C male connector is compatible with USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 host ports on supported laptops.
