Thermal Paste Guard for AM5

The Noctua NA-STPG1 set includes a polycarbonate guard designed to fit AMD AM5 Ryzen processors. It blocks excess thermal compound from settling in the heatspreader cut-outs during cooler installation. This keeps the CPU surface clean and makes future maintenance simpler for system builders and upgraders working with the AM5 platform.

Check Socket and Clearance

Verify that your processor uses the AMD AM5 socket before ordering, as the guard is shaped specifically for that heatspreader layout. Ensure your chosen cooler mounting mechanism applies even pressure so the guard stays aligned with the outer edges of the heatspreader. The guard withstands temperatures up to 130°C, so confirm your typical operating range stays within that limit.

Build Integration

Place the guard on the CPU before applying thermal grease and seating the cooler; it adds no measurable thermal resistance. After removal, use the ten included NA-CW1 cleaning wipes to clean both the CPU heatspreader and the cooler contact surface. The set eliminates the need for separate cleaning supplies and prevents paste build-up that can complicate later cooler swaps.
