Cable construction and purpose

This instrument cable connects an electric guitar to an amplifier or pedalboard using a straight 1/4 inch plug on one end and a right-angle 1/4 inch plug on the other. The 24 awg oxygen-free copper centre conductor is insulated with polyethylene dielectric, wrapped in a black carbon PE layer to suppress handling noise, and shielded by a spiral screen under a flexible PVC jacket. Heavy-duty all-metal connectors with matte nickel plating complete the assembly. The nylon braid sleeve adds abrasion, chemical and UV resistance while improving coil memory.

Connector orientation decides fit

The right-angle plug is designed for guitars with side-mounted or recessed output jacks where a straight plug would protrude awkwardly or risk damage. If your instrument has a top-mounted jack plate or you prefer a straight exit for pedalboard routing, this orientation will not suit the application. The straight plug on the opposite end connects cleanly to amplifier inputs or pedalboard patch bays without adding strain.

Noise rejection and durability in use

The carbon PE layer targets microphonic noise caused by cable movement against high-impedance guitar circuits, while the spiral shield reduces electromagnetic interference during performance. The PVC outer jacket resists sharp edges and repeated bending, and the nylon braid protects against UV exposure and chemical contact on stage or in the studio. These features combine to maintain signal integrity and extend working life under normal playing conditions.

Questions about this item

How does the 24 awg OFC conductor perform in a guitar setup?

The 24 awg oxygen-free copper centre conductor is surrounded by a polyethylene dielectric and a black carbon PE layer that eliminates microphonic noise from cable movement, while the spiral shield further reduces interference for a quiet signal.

What does the 1/4" straight to right-angle connector arrangement allow?

The straight plug fits standard guitar output jacks, while the right-angle plug sits flush against amplifier or pedal inputs, reducing strain on the jack and saving space on crowded pedalboards.

What physical protection does the nylon braid sleeving add?

The unique nylon braid improves flexibility for easy coiling and shields the PVC jacket from abrasion, chemicals and UV radiation, extending the cable's working life.
