What it does

This NShi adapter converts a DisplayPort 1.1 output on a desktop or laptop into a VGA connection for a monitor, projector or HDTV. It supports video up to 1920x1080 at 60Hz and 1920x1200 resolution. The 24.5cm passive cable draws power from the DisplayPort source and carries signals in one direction only, from the DP device to the VGA display.

Before you order

Verify that your computer or graphics card has a standard DisplayPort female socket, not Mini DisplayPort or USB-C. The target display must accept a VGA D-Sub 15-pin input. Because this is a passive adapter it cannot convert a VGA source signal to a DisplayPort screen, and it will not work with dual-link DVI or HDMI ports. A separate VGA cable is required to complete the link.

In your setup

Plug the male DisplayPort end into the host device; the latching connector secures the connection and a release button eases removal. The female VGA port on the adapter then accepts your existing VGA cable running to the external screen. Use mirror mode to duplicate your primary display for presentations or extend mode to add desktop space. The short 24.5cm length keeps the cable run tidy on a desk or in a laptop bag.
