Compatible Drum Unit for Brother DR-420 Printers

This two-pack supplies new aftermarket drum units that replace the Brother DR-420 in a wide range of HL, DCP, MFC and Intellifax models. Each unit is rated for up to 12,000 pages at five percent coverage on A4 paper under ISO/IEC 19752 test conditions. The pack is intended for home, school or office users who want a direct replacement without buying original Brother supplies.

Installation Notes and Common Issues

Each drum unit slides into the printer the same way as the original; no tools are required and a user guide is included in the box. Because the product is a drum unit only, it does not contain toner powder and must be paired with a separate toner cartridge. A frequent mistake is expecting toner to be inside, which leads to blank pages until a cartridge is installed. Recognition is reported as stable, but if the printer does not detect the unit, reseating it usually resolves the issue.

Page-Yield Specification

The decisive figure is the 12,000-page yield per drum unit measured at five percent coverage on A4 paper according to ISO/IEC 19752. Actual output will vary with graphics density, environmental conditions and printing habits. Buyers who need a higher rated yield or who print very heavy coverage should look for a drum rated for more pages.
