What the cable does and who needs it

The Ocbuo 2-in-1 cable combines a USB-C and a Lightning connector on a single USB-A plug. It charges most iPhone models from 11 through 17 and common Android phones such as Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel. The four-foot braided nylon lead is rated for over 20000 bend cycles. It supplies up to 15W at 5V and 3A for fast charging but does not transfer data or support CarPlay.

When the single cable replaces two

Carrying this one cord removes the need to pack separate Lightning and USB-C cables for mixed-device households or travel bags. The jump is worth it when you regularly charge both an iPhone and a USB-C phone or tablet from the same USB-A charger. It will not help users who require simultaneous charging of two devices, because only one connector can draw power at a time.

Limits of the USB-A interface

The USB-A plug caps output at 5V and 3A, so devices that negotiate higher voltages over USB Power Delivery will charge at their base rate only. Data lines are not wired, ruling out file transfers, debugging or CarPlay connections. The cable also cannot split its 15W total between both ports; the second device must wait until the first finishes charging.

Questions about this item

What USB-A power adapter rating do I need for the 15W max output?

Use a USB-A charger that can supply 5V at 3A to reach the cable's 15W maximum. Lower-rated adapters will charge more slowly.

How do I avoid damaging the Lightning and USB-C tips during daily connect and disconnect?

Grip the aluminium connector housing, not the braided cord, when plugging or unplugging. Pulling the cable stresses the internal joints and shortens the 20000-bend lifespan.

When should I replace the cable if the braid frays or charging becomes intermittent?

Replace it once the nylon sheath shows exposed wires or the connectors no longer hold firmly. The 20000-bend rating is a lab figure; real-world wear varies with handling.
