Compact 40 mm case fan

The OEM Industries 1606KL-05W-B50 is a 40 mm square DC fan designed for chassis ventilation. It runs on a 24 V supply and draws 0.08 A through a three-pin connector. The black frame houses a ball-bearing motor without any LED lighting.

Suited for tight airflow paths

This fan suits builders who need a small 40 mm unit for auxiliary case cooling or replacement in legacy equipment. It is not intended for direct CPU heatsink mounting, for high-static-pressure radiator use, or for systems that require PWM speed control via a four-pin header.

Steady low-power operation

Under continuous load the ball bearing maintains consistent rotation at the rated voltage and current. The three-wire connection allows the motherboard to monitor RPM while the fan runs at a fixed 24 V level. No thermal throttling or speed curves are built into the device itself.

Questions about this item

What voltage header must my motherboard provide for this 24 V fan to spin?

The fan is rated for 24 V, so the motherboard header or fan controller must supply 24 V.

Can I plug this 40 mm, 3-pin cooler into a standard 4-pin PWM header on an older board?

Yes, the 3-pin connector fits a 4-pin header; the fan will run at full speed because PWM control is not present.

How can I verify the 0.08 A ball-bearing fan is running correctly after installation?

Check that the fan spins smoothly at full speed and listen for quiet ball-bearing operation with no rattling.
